I cannot tell you the amount of times a client tells me they should “stretch more” or “do yoga because they are so tight.” Sometimes the client is legitimately tight and other times, the client can easily palm the floor while doing a standing toe touch. Both clients perceive that they are “tight” but their amount of actual mobility is vastly different.
Want to know the weird thing? The client that is actually tight and restricted in movement is probably better off. Being too flexible can be more of a potential problem than a benefit. Stretching aimlessly for some people is a bad idea. What you want is to have an adequate range of motion with strength throughout and not perceive tightness.
Just stretching more is really never a good solution!
